Niall learned his trade with Niall Rafferty Carpentry, specialising in off-standard roofing systems.

A move to the U.S.A. in 2004 saw Niall becoming familiar with Timber Frame construction. The U.S. has bee erecting Timber Frame structures for many years and the Structural and Design standards are second to none. Niall worked in the Chicago suburbs on many residential dwellings. He specialised in timber frame erection as well as in the first and second fix phases of construction.

Upon his return to Ireland, Niall struck out on his own and was employing 13 carpenters by 2009. Later that year, he joined forces with Mark Feely Carpentry & SP Brennan Builders to form carpentryworks.ie
